Today I Sent a an Email…

To Rush Limbaugh.

How many people know he lost his hearing back in 2001 due to Autoimmune Inner Ear Disease? It can cause hearing loss as a result of the hair nerves in the cochlea dying. His loss was fairly sudden. Mine wasn’t. My hearing loss spanned over 20 years…a long and painful process. I asked him a few questions about it and other things, but I’m going to withhold exactly what I asked until I hear back from him, which, realistically, may be never.

But I have made a vow. I will not do a full and complete commentary on him until I have given him a chance to respond and rebut…I gave the man my word, even if he never reads it.

I should be ready to post about him in a couple weeks.

The Economy – Re-posted from November 7th FB

I’ve been reading posts and comments, both here and on myspace, about the Dow Jones fluctuating madly. Apparently, some people believe Obama hails from Hogwarts because those who didn’t vote for him see this and are now declaring, “See! It’s because he was elected!” Oh my god. He’s a magic man, Mama!

Seriously? Ya really think that?

Now for all those who really, truly believe that, here’s what you need to do. Take your open palm, doesn’t matter if it’s the left or right hand, slap it against your forehead, and say, “DOH!”

Because, my friends, what you’re experiencing is what we like to call, a “Homer Moment.”

Need proof? Allllrighty then! (I couldn’t resist a smart-assed Jim Carrey reference).

Today’s edition of the New York Times reported that retailers across the nation experienced huge losses during the month of October. October, people! Barack Obama was not elected until November 4th!

One can always assume the nation is in a recession when certain businesses do well. Whet your whistles on this tidbit from the New York Times:

“Of the more than two dozen major retailers that reported on
Thursday, most had sales declines at stores open at least a year,
the majority of the decreases in double digits. Deep discounters
like Wal-Mart and BJ’s Wholesale Club reported gains”

When the deep discounters start raking in even bigger bucks than normal, you can rest assured, we are in a deep recession. It didn’t happen overnight. It didn’t magically appear out of nowhere, and we all know that. Lehman Brothers, Merrill Lynch and a number of other large corporations didn’t whimper into the sunset suddenly.

The economy tanked due to bad investments, predatory lending practices, and lousy and criminally negligent management by the big guys in charge. Most retailers have experienced big losses all quarter and for most of the year. Did Obama have anything to do with that? No.

Employment is weak all over. People are having a tough time finding jobs, myself included. Is Obama to blame for your lack of a job? Nope.

Automobile makers are planning cuts in order to save themselves. Does it make sense to blame Obama? Of course not!

So why, on God’s decreasingly green earth, would any person with a brain say, “The Dow Jones plunged because Obama was elected!” It doesn’t make a lick of sense.

But don’t take my word for it. Read the evidence for yourselves. And before you run around flapping your wings like a headless chicken (like some radio talk-show hosts do), stop and think. Do some research. Read.

And for God’s sake, stop listening to Rush Limbaugh!
